I am a professor and Dean of the Faculty of Education. I have been in this position since 1995. Prior to that I was a member of the Department of Educational Foundations and, later, Educational Policy Studies at the University of Alberta, and was chair of both departments.

I am a philosopher of education whose research interests are in the area of critical thinking, teacher education, and education in a democratic society. I have taught and published in each of these areas.
