Math + the Arts + Technology

My research and teaching involves seeing mathematics through an Arts lens and using technology to bring mathematics to the wider world.

My research direction is best described by this question: What might math be like if ... you could discuss math with family and friends as you would a favourite book or a good movie? Looking at math as something to be shared with others leads me to explore what type of math is worth talking about ... and worth teaching and learning.

I collaborate with Marcelo Borba (UNESP, Brazil), Susan Gerofsky (UBC), Cornelia Hoogland (UWO), Janette Hughes (UOIT), Rick Jardine (UWO), Immaculate Namukasa (UWO), Kamran Sedig (UWO), & Nathalie Sinclair (SFU).

My current projects are funded by: SSHRC, the Imperial Oil Foundation, the Fields Institute, the Canadian Mathematical Society, and the Faculty of Education at UWO.

My past projects have been funded by: SSHRC, the Fields Institute, the Maurice Price Foundation, Inukshuk Wireless, CLOE, Explore Learning, and the Faculty of Education at UWO.
