Math + the Arts + Technology |
My research and teaching involves seeing mathematics through an Arts lens and using technology to bring mathematics to the wider world. My research direction is best described by this question: What might math be like if ... you could discuss math with family and friends as you would a favourite book or a good movie? Looking at math as something to be shared with others leads me to explore what type of math is worth talking about ... and worth teaching and learning. I collaborate with Marcelo Borba (UNESP, Brazil), Susan Gerofsky (UBC), Cornelia Hoogland (UWO), Janette Hughes (UOIT), Rick Jardine (UWO), Immaculate Namukasa (UWO), Kamran Sedig (UWO), & Nathalie Sinclair (SFU). My current projects are funded by: SSHRC, the Imperial Oil Foundation, the Fields Institute, the Canadian Mathematical Society, and the Faculty of Education at UWO. My past projects have been funded by: SSHRC, the Fields Institute, the Maurice Price Foundation, Inukshuk Wireless, CLOE, Explore Learning, and the Faculty of Education at UWO. |
