My research and teaching focus is broadly located in the field of sociology of education and include: critical policy study in education, education reform and restructuring in the context of globalization and internationalization, teachers’ work and educational restructuring, race, gender, class, sexuality and schooling, Multiculturalism, antiracist and anti-oppressive education, Investigating the perspectives of minority students and teachers in urban schools, feminist and postcolonial studies in education, male teachers and male teacher shortage in schools, Muslim students and Canadian schools, women and higher education in Iran, democratic education and critical pedagogy, and boy’s underachievement in schools.
