Multilingualism, Applied Linguistics, and Social Identity Construction
My on-going program of research has to do with issues of equity in the teaching and learning of languages and is informed by an interdisciplinary approach. I am engaged in looking at the development of linguistic repertoires as an essential component of language education, language teaching, and citizenship in a globalized world.
As an Ameri-Canadian, a multilingual and Francophone, a teacher and curriculum writer for 15 years in diverse, international settings, I have a passion for languages and social justice. I have worked on a number of major research projects (SSHRC funded) and international collaborations, and am currently working on developing a more interdisciplinary curriculum for French language pedagogy, which reflects ‘real’ linguistic practices and heterogeneity.
